2011

December 12, 2011 – Another year is coming to an end and we are so grateful for all the blessings in our lives. The luncheon was held today with 24 classmates, 7 spouses and 1 granddaughter.

I had received notes from Robert Hupp in Arizona and Phyllis Bradshaw in Florida, wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Also, heard from Paul (Buddy) Cheek, who informed me that his wife, Christa, had passed away this year. Let us all remember the classmates and spouses, who are no longer with us, and keep their families in our prayers. Just a reminder that if you have anything you want to share, please contact me and I will pass it on.

Classmates were recognized for their attendance at the monthly luncheons: Joe Kennedy, Karen Goins and Marcia Imlay attended all but two luncheons in two years; Connie Watiker and Mike Erichsen attended all but one luncheon in the two years; and Tom Hall and Shirley Bennett attended all the luncheons. We are now going into our five year and the attendance is growing, so we are starting over in the attendance record.

We will continue to recognize the efforts the classmates put into getting together.

Mike Erichsen led the prayer and we enjoyed the friendships. Then we had a White Elephant exchange. It was suggested by Marlene Jones and approved by everyone attending, that starting next year we will begin a fund and in November decide how we will use it to help in the community with a project.

Birthdays for the month of December: Mabel Carrel Dale – Dec. 5th; Pauline Snelling Davis – December 8th; Leon Fischer – Dec. 8th; Gloria Tracey Denny – Dec. 12th; Tom Hall – Dec. 16th; Dave Anderson – Dec. 17th; Phyllis Young Bradshaw – Dec. 18th; Bill Bowman and Gene Moore – Dec. 20th; Jerry Norman – Dec. 22nd; Alice Barker Nessline – Dec. 25th; Marilyn Daily Shaffer and Nancy Sommers Rarick – Dec. 31st – Happy birthday to all our classmates. If you had a birthday and it is not on the list, please let us know.

Classmate, Jim Lucas and his wife, Linda, co-owners of Highlander Cleaners, have partnered with the Salvation Army for Coats for Kids for twenty-five years. Donations of new and gently used coats are dropped off at their business, cleaned and given to the Salvation Army for distribution to children and adults. Our kudos to Jim and Linda for their caring about the community.

John E. Passwaters, who was a part of our class through junior year, passed away on October 24, 2011, in Spring Hill, Florida, after a long courageous battle with mesothelioma. Shirley said for the reunions and picnics, there is a committee and everyone (not just the committee) helps make the events successful and all should share. She truly appreciated the kindness and thanked everyone from the bottom of her heart.
